Ontario Investing Over $5.8 Million In Hospital Upgrades And Repairs In Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke
14/8/2026
The Ontario government is investing over $5.8 million to complete upgrades and repairs at hospitals in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, creating a safer, more comfortable space for people and their families to connect to care and services, close to home. This funding is part of Ontario’s broader investment of over $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs at 126 hospitals across the province.
Funding will be given to the following hospitals:
-Arnprior Regional Health - $787,168
-Deep River and District Hospital - $1,175,275
-Pembroke Regional Hospital Inc. - $2,445,167
-Renfrew Victoria Hospital - $985,604
-St. Francis Memorial Hospital - $442,091
“This crucial funding through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund is critical to ensuring critical institutions like our local hospitals continue to provide care closer to home. By supporting essential repairs, upgrades and renewal projects, this funding strengthens the facilities our residents rely on every day. I am grateful to the Province of Ontario for continuing to invest in the healthcare infrastructure that serves communities across Renfrew–Nipissing–Pembroke.”
– Billy Denault, MPP, Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke
“We are very pleased and grateful to the Ministry of Health for this significant investment through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. As a hospital with aging facilities, this funding is critical in helping us address essential infrastructure needs - from ongoing upgrades and urgent repairs, such as our recent plumbing challenges, to major projects that improve the safety, reliability, and sustainability of our hospital. Previous HIRF investments enabled the installation of state-of-the-art fire suppression systems in renovated patient care areas, a project that was recently put to the test and helped prevent a far more serious outcome. Investments like these play a vital role in modernizing our infrastructure, supporting a greener future, and ensuring we can continue delivering safe, high-quality care to our community for years to come." – Sabine Mersmann, President and CEO, Pembroke Regional Hospital
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Health for this investment through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, which will support critical renewal projects at both Renfrew Victoria Hospital and St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Strong, well-maintained infrastructure is essential to delivering safe, high-quality care close to home. This funding will help ensure our facilities continue to meet the needs of patients, families, staff, physicians, and volunteers today and well into the future.” – Suzanne Madore, President & CEO, Renfrew Victoria Hospital and St. Francis Memorial Hospital
"Reliable base funding and continued investment in hospital infrastructure are both critical to the future of healthcare. This infrastructure renewal funding will enable our hospital to preserve safe, functional, and welcoming care environments, ensuring our facilities can continue supporting exceptional care for patients and the teams who deliver it." – Janna Hotson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Deep River and District Health
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Government of Ontario and MPP Billy Denault for their continued support of Arnprior Regional Health. These investments reflect a strong commitment to local health care and to ensuring that hospitals like ours can continue to meet the needs of our growing community while helping to address the pressing infrastructure needs of our organization." -Oliver Jacob, Board Chair, Arnprior Regional Health
The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund enables health-care system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs including upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators. Since 2024, the Ontario government has increased funding through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund by 10% each year, allowing even more hospitals to complete upgrades and repairs in a timely manner.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will enable these hospitals to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
Through Your Health: A Plan For Connected and Convenient Care, Ontario is expanding and modernizing hospitals and building new health-care facilities, making it faster and easier for people of all ages to connect to the high-quality care they need, where and when they need it.
