The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation and Hospital President and CEO Sabine Mersmann recently recognized staff member Jeremy Connor for his outstanding commitment to local cancer care through his annual LumberFest fundraiser.

 

Since launching the event five years ago, Connor has raised an impressive $12,271.35 in support of cancer care at Pembroke Regional Hospital.

 

To celebrate this milestone, Connor was presented with a commemorative trophy by Sabine Mersmann and Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation Executive Director Roger Martin in recognition of his dedication and contributions to local healthcare.

 

What began as a passion project fuelled by a love of live music has grown into a successful community fundraiser that continues to make a meaningful impact for local patients and families. This year's event, LumberFest 5, raised $5,294.25, making it the most successful event in the festival's history.

 

"Jeremy has shown what can happen when passion, perseverance, and community spirit come together," said Roger Martin. "For five years, Jeremy and his volunteers have poured their hearts into LumberFest and, in the process, have raised more than $12,000 to support local cancer care. That's an accomplishment they should be very proud of, and one that has made a real difference for patients and families in our region."

 

Mersmann echoed those sentiments and praised Connor's commitment both inside and outside the hospital.

 

"Jeremy's dedication to supporting local cancer care extends far beyond his role at the hospital. Through LumberFest, he has brought people together around a shared love of music while making a meaningful impact for patients and families in our community. We are incredibly proud to have Jeremy as part of the PRH team and grateful for the difference he continues to make through his volunteer efforts."

 

Held annually, LumberFest brings together performers, volunteers, sponsors and music lovers from across the Ottawa Valley for a day of live entertainment and fundraising in support of local healthcare.

 

The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Jeremy, the many performers who have donated their time and talent over the years, event volunteers, sponsors and the hundreds of attendees whose support has helped make LumberFest a success.
